What is NLP? Article from coachbranschen.se
What is Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)?
short, NLP is the championship's personal art and science. Art that we all have our unique style and personality to our practice, and science to NLP based techniques to detect the pattern of eminent persons in various fields, use to achieve successful results.
Why are there so many coaches who also choose to go NLP training?
NLP training provides many new models, techniques and tools to develop themselves and to add to their skills, to use when coaching, the teaching and learning, for personal, leadership and organizational development. In all NLP training includes performance, communication and change models. Coach training programs are generally good and often quite short, only about 10 days. Many believe they need a deeper knowledge of human behavior and how the brain and language function and not feel that the training they already received may not be sufficient enough. In NLP training, you get a better understanding of our unconscious and how we may access to the unconscious. For there are, for example, all our behavior, how we perceive space and time, our values and beliefs. To make the desired changes, we need to have with our unconscious, which accounts for 80-90% of who we are. As usual, the coaching, we talk often only with the conscious self and it takes longer to get to the desired changes.
Already in the first level of training of NLP, the so-called NLP Practitioner which is about 130 guided hours, participants get a variety of tools so that they can always have access to the resource-filled state of mind (eg, anchors, excellence circle, how thoughts, emotions and body belong together, submodaliteter ie. the quality of our senses, both past, present and future, breaking exercises and ramändringar) the best contact and maintain it with anyone (eg report, calibration, follow and lead, milton language, how to use metaphors, how to use time and time lines). The meta-model and a query model, coaches, managers, vendors and parents even better at asking the right kind of questions. Motivation and performance models are other tools that are useful both in work situations and at home. It also includes various tools to remove phobias, become a better negotiator, change the behavior and learning of successful strategies.
What is NLP and from which disciplines will it?
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) are practical techniques that create the results we really want while we do the things that are valuable to others. It is the study of what is the difference between the championship and average. Through NLP we also get a long list of extremely effective techniques for training, consultancy, business and therapy. NLP is not therapy and not mental training but can be used in those areas. So what does this mean?
Neuro: Is a statement that all behavior to arise from neurological sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch-and sensory processes. We experience the world with our five senses, we understand the information, filter it further in the brain after the values, interests, behavior, etc.. and act upon it. Neurology covers not only what happens within us but also our visible physical responses to thoughts and events. One reflects the other at the physical level, it means that we include can "read" by, to calibrate other process thoughts and feelings. This also makes it easier to self deal with internal control beliefs and thoughts.
Linguistic: How we use language and how words affect us, positively and negatively, consciously and unconsciously, we use language to organize our thoughts and our behavior and to communicate with others.
Programming: How we shape and choose to organize our thoughts, our behavior and our habits in order to achieve results. It is a combination of our thinking, our values and beliefs. How to own and environment policies affecting our changes and results.
NLP is based on many people's research and work from such diverse fields as psychology, psychotherapy, linguistics and systems theory, communication theory, neurology and pedagogics. Each model or technique can be derived from any branch of research. What NLP researchers do is to model the things that work, for example, different strategies, removing redundancies, and scale down the key to a kernel that can teach to others so they can do similar things and have similar successful results. The patterns, skills and techniques are used more and more frequently in business, leadership training, education and various therapies. The benefits are improved communication, personal development and a faster learning.
Some background on the NLP.
In the early 1970s a collaboration between the John Grinder, who was then assistant professor of linguistics at the University of California at Santa Cruz, USA, and Richard Bandler who was a psychology student at the same university. Bandler was also very interested in psychotherapy. Together they studied three very distinguished therapists. Fritz Perls who was the originator of Gestalt therapy, Virginia Satir, family therapist who took on and solved the family relationship problems where other therapists were biting, and Milton Erickson, a world-famous hypnotherapist. These three were very different but had many basic pattern in common. Bandler and Grinder refined these patterns, and built up an elegant model that can be used to achieve effective communication, personal change, accelerated learning and greater enjoyment of life. They documented their initial discovery of four books published between 1975 and 1977: The Structure of Magic 1 and 2 and Patterns 1 and 2. At this time lived Messrs Bandler and Grinder near the British anthropologist Gregory Bateson who studied and wrote books on communication and systems theory, he had a great influence on NLP. Since then there has been a plethora of NLP books, please read Robert Dilts, Tad James, Joseph O'Connor, John Seymour, Judith DeLozier, Stephen Gillian; Anthony Robbins and Others
You can read about a variety of theoretical knowledge in the NLP field. I would recommend attending a training course where a lot is in the experience itself, to learn by seeing, hearing and feeling, ie. go through the tools and models itself so that the consolidation in the body and you can work with others and know what to focus on. All NLP courses are experiential because of it. Most educators are taking a process, strategy or model at a time, telling us why it works, what it is, what has it to and how you use it. Then, the participants also try out themselves.
For me in my own work as an educator and coach I have gained a greater inner strength and understanding of what I can do and how I can help others through NLP. Now I weave into various NLP techniques in my coaching and have very good results and satisfied clients. My own life was dramatically improved after my NLP training, I was already Lic. mental trainer and coach, and thought that I had come a long way to own personal development. I realize now that the trip had only, and has begun. I have a new flexibility and humility I lacked before, and teach me new things to like everyone I meet, young and old. I am a much better coach, entrepreneur, educator, wife and mother. I have woven into NLP in all my life goal areas and are constantly working on the basic assumptions of the guidelines which is the basis of NLP, I would even say that I have become more positive and calmer person.
